Preparing for your session
Well rested, food in little bellies.
It is a good tip not to schedule your photo session around your little one's nap or bedtime. The best time for lighting is typically two hours before sunset and after sunrise. If this is an issue for you, let me know! We can always plan a shoot at any time of day by taking advantage of areas in open shade that will give skin a lovely hue and put a sparkle in your eyes. Don’t show up to a photo shoot on an empty stomach. Many times, families will come to a photo session with dinner scheduled at the end. If this is your plan, be sure everyone has a healthy snack before the photo shoot.
Come dressed in outfits that make sense for your session.
Keep the attire simple, but coordinate colors for groups.
Solid colors are best, try to avoid large, bold patterns.
Don't stress, and enjoy this time with your family
My favorite photos tend to be ones where everyone is engaged, comfortable and interacting with each other. Understand that not every picture needs to have everyone looking at the camera and smiling at the same time! If you are relaxed and begin to view this as quality time together, your eyes will be on each other and your smiles will be natural. I believe these will be the images you are drawn to the most because they reflect your family dynamic and your love.
