L & M Detailed Events
The ladies behind L&M Detailed Events; Lorrie and Melissa. “We’re two small town girls in this ‘big’ Kentucky city, living our adventure.” Growing up in neighboring small towns and following parallel paths to two more cities before finally bumping into each other nearly 10 years ago. Their similar backgrounds + passion for hospitality led to their lifelong friendship and L&M Detailed Events
What’s one thing brides always ask you? “How long have you been doing this?” We think people find a sense of security when you have a lot of years under your belt. In our early days that question would always scare us, but by the time we finished our consultation they could tell we were committed to our couples. We would do all things necessary to execute their vision.
What’s one thing you wish all brides knew? The benefits of having at least a wedding day coordinator before it was too late. If you haven’t been involved, attended, or planned a wedding it’s really hard to understand all the small things that can end up making you feel like you, your family, or friends are working. No matter how long, hard and “detailed” you planned, something is sure to go awry; groom rips his pants, bride needs her dress sewn, the officiant has a flat tire, the food truck you’re expecting is broken down, the band went to the wrong address, and so on. (True stories!) In fact, weddings are notorious for having unpredictable last-minute issues and sometimes lots of them. Coordinators absorb the stress of these occurrences so your friends and family can remain in the moment with you.
What’s something that you provide that sets you apart from everyone else? We work for our couple not for our business. What does that mean? We have continued our mission since day one to keep our clients, couples, and families our first priority. We didn’t want the business side to interfere with the type of service we provide. We only take twenty five weddings or events in a year in order to stay true to quality over quantity. Something else we think sets us apart is our flat rate fees; no vendor commissions, kick backs, or networks that require us to refer specific vendors. Again, we work for our couple.
What are your strengths that you bring to your business what are her strengths that she brings to to the business? We have a lot of similar qualities which contribute to our success as business partners and in our friendship; our uncontrollable desire to go above and beyond what’s expected, attention to detail, organization, genuine care for our clients, second nature hospitality, our inability to say we can’t do something and we’re both lefties- enough said! Separately, we both bring a few individual strengths to the table. We like to joke that we are good cop, bad cop. Melissa is caring, inquisitive, thorough, and her bubbly personality makes everyone feel like they are the most important person in the room. Lorrie is direct, calm, resourceful, and always ready to problem solve with her tool kit by her side.
Big thanks To Lorrie and Melissa!
