Runway Ready (NYC Part #1)

Nothing could have prepared me for how October has gone.

Nothing.

At the beginning of this month, a fabulous an well-respected event planner put out a call. She needed a photographer for an out of town event with availability for five days. I had been a fan of hers since my days as a florist, so I jumped at the opportunity to throw my name into the ring.

Less than an hour later, I was on the phone with her and had booked that job.

I instantly began making arrangements for my little ones. I would be flying up to NYC to photograph partied that coordinated with the timing of Bridal Fashion Week. A dream come true, right? Something I pictured myself doing…never. I was thrilled, intimidated, excited.

Once I arrived, I found that the scope of what I would be assigned to photographing was to extend to varied locations, branding, and one of the most personally exciting developments of all: the runway. That evening, huddled in a pack of fellow photographers all rallying for position, I got the opportunity to view and photograph designs that were making their debut, and it did not disappoint.

Ines diSanto took her inspiration for this collection from the classic tale East of the Sun, West of the Moon and the references can be seen all over the exquisite detail of these designs. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to be on the runway in NYC. I am so grateful and humbled by the creativity and craftsmanship I was surrounded by that evening. be sure to check back in soon for part 2 of my first night in the Big Apple!
